In business from 1840 to the 1960s the J. & E. Stevens Company began producing popular die cast cap guns after World War II ended. Cap guns gained popularity in the late 1940s and 1950s when television featured popular western TV shows such as Roy Rogers, The Rifleman and Gene Autry just to name a few. The company was located in Cromwell, CT and is best known for its cast iron banks and cap guns. In early 1960s the company was sold to Buckley Brothers.

Stevens Space Toy cap guns included the Neutron Blaster Space Police cap gun and the Jet Junior cap gun produced in the 1950s.
